Below is a list of programs offered at Pirates Island Aquatic Park with  descriptions of each program (to request more information, click here):

  • Water Aerobics:
    This class is a mix of aerobic routines, stretching, and toning in shoulder deep water. It is fun class inspired by music.
     Tuesday and Thursday: 6:00-6:30am
     Session One: 6weeks, 30 minutes

  • Aquasize:
    Challenging, high intensity workout in deep water. Emphasis is on aerobic benefits of exercise with minimal impact involved in land classes.
     Monday, Wednesday, and Friday: 7:00-7:45am
     Session One 6 weeks
     Cost: $40.00

  • Aquasize Sr:
    Moderate Intensity workout focusing on toning and conditioning with some aerobic benefits. Performed mostly in shallow water to music.
     Monday, Wednesday, and Friday: 7:45- 8:30am
     Session One: 6 weeks, 45 minutes

  • Level Swimming:
     Cost: $40.00
     Every Monday for 6 weeks
    *Parent Tot- we have not set a time
    *Level I- 5:30pm
    *Level II and Level III- 6:00-6:45pm
    *Level III and Level IV- 7:00- 7:15pm
     Our learn to swim program helps foster physical and mental development of young kids. There is a class for each level of swimming.
     Parent Tot (6 months to 3 years)- Parent and child will emphasize water adjustment, songs, games and other water activities. (Beach balls)
     Level I: (3-9 years) Water Exploration – No previous experience in the water necessary, but the children must be able to work with the instructor without the parent present. They work on the basic skills such as floating, breath control, and horizontal body position.
     Level II: (3-9 years) Primary Skills- Students work on independent swimming with flotation devices. (Kickboards, fun noodles)
     Level III: (3-9yeasr) Stroke Readiness- Increase skill competency and practice safety and non- rescue skills.
     Level IV: (3-9 years) Stroke Development- Students must be able to swim without flotation. The swimmers concentrate on rhythmic breathing and over-arm recovery on front crawl.
     Level V: Stroke Refinement- Students must be able to swim one length front crawl and one length back crawl. Swimmers work on endurance and rotary breathing. (Kickboards, rescue tubes, lifejackets, rescue tubes)
  • Private Swim Lessons:
    Water Safety Instructor certified. Swimmers of all levels and ages can participate.
     5 lessons for 30 minutes
     Cost: Member $100.00/ Nonmember $120.00
  • Junior Lifeguard-:
    The Junior Lifeguard Program offers individuals, ages 9-17 the opportunity to learn about water safety and lifesaving skills from experienced Lifeguard Professional. Junior Guards daily activities include education about various aquatic environments and to learn how to inform the public on safety issues.
     Length of the course is a minimum of 4 hours
     The last Sunday of every month
     5-9pm
     Materials, Equipment: Name tags, course record, course record addendum, paper, pencils, participant’s manual, and flotation devices, ring buoy, and a rescue tube.
     Cost: $30.00
     At least 10 participants
  • Lifeguard Training and CPR for the Professional Rescuer:
    The purpose is to provide entry level lifeguard candidates with the skills and knowledge to prevent, recognize, and respond, to emergencies and to provide care for injuries, and sudden illness until advanced medical personnel arrive and take over.
     Prerequisites: 500 yard swim, must be 17 by the time the course is complete
     At least
     Materials: Course Record, lifeguard manual, Lifeguard Video Set, TV, VCR, rescue tubes (one rescue tube per two or three participants) Lifeguards Skills Checklist, chalkboard or newsprint, chalk o markers, pens and pencils. Backboard (one per five participants) with at least three straps and a universal immobilizer; AED, towel and blankets for the victim.
     Course Certification:
    o Students must be able to demonstrate all rescues correctly.
    o Pass the written examination by 80%

  • Community Water Safety Course:
     
    American Red Cross Certified- The Class prepares you for an emergency.
     4 Hours
     No test
     Cost: $40.00
     Dates: Second Sunday of each month
     Participants receive an ARC course completion certification indicating Community Water Safety.
